As "spawning" of a different kind happened this morning. After I let our ducks out I found this :

Bibby our little year old female call duck has laid her first ever egg ! Its tiny - as its her first. Call ducks lay big eggs for their size normally so at this stage I don't think we'll be getting ducklings (or making omlettes) any time soon.

Compared to certain fish though they're not the greatest parents. Eggs was duly abandoned as they've spent the morning so far looking for slugs and swimming :

great picture , we had ducks in our garden one year breeding in the bushes had ducklings running round for few weeks till left under fence lol

Sweet, is that 1pound piece? if so that's about the size of a 10cent piece in OZ which makes that egg pretty tiny.
Are you going to try to incubate it? Good Job Ducks
