HELP!!! loads of dead bristlenose babies Empty
PostSubject: HELP!!! loads of dead bristlenose babies   HELP!!! loads of dead bristlenose babies EmptyMon Apr 19, 2010 11:02 am

Woke up this morning to at least 80% of my first BN batch babies dead. They're all approx. 2cm and water parameters nitrite - 0, amonia - 0, PH 7.2 - 7.6, Nitrate - inbetween 0 - 5.0. Any idea what could have caused this?
Adults all seem ok, and had 3 new babies in a nursary which have just started to gain their colour, which all seem to be ok.
The only chemicals I have recently added to the aquarium are Sera florena plant fertalizer and have been doing so for 3 weeks (a small dose each week).
Yesterday whilst doing a water change i stupidly forgot to add water conditioner but realised after putting the water in, so added the conditioner to the tank and disturbed the water in order to mix it up. have done this with other community fish and had no problems. could this be the reason?
Thanks

sorry to hear this mate.
ive never used any plant fertilizer so cannot say. if the 3 babies are in the same tank but in a fry saver then it sounds like it could be something on the bottom of the tank.
also what are you feeding them.??? if your feeding flake or crushed flake it could be that you have over fed them and given them bloat.
ive never added water conditioner after doing a water change either so it might be that or the water you added was too cold for the fry hope the rest make it i would do another water change though to be on the safe side
