peppermints can vary between the breeds...

I have 8 L71 peppermint's and they vary between 4-5 inches right now and are nearly fully grown.

I am quite lucky to have 4 females and 4 male L71 peppermint's.....

may have some going cheap just after christmas too Smile

Ah, good for some reason I thought they would be bigger but that's better being in the same league really as the regular BN, thanks.

largest peppermint I saw was a 7inch though that was over a year ago and never seen one that big since, I like to think that mine will not get above 6 inches. Right now they are all under that Smile

Peps get a bit bigger than the common bristlenose, but only by about an inch or so.

PostSubject: size of peppermint catfish - L031, L176, L300, LDA004, L071, L181, L249   Peppermint question EmptyThu Nov 18, 2010 11:57 pm

you can use the thank you button whenever you like I do not mind... lol

advice was 7 inches, though mine are a year old and about 5inches maximum at the minute.... depends on the type of peppermint..lol..

L031, L176, L300, LDA004, Peppermint Pleco - 6.9 inches

L071, L181, L249, Peppermint pleco, Peppermint pleco (Australia) - 7.9 inches

you can check on other reputable site though as a quick reference I did check on -

http://www.planetcatfish.com/catelog/species.php?species_id=1249

planet catfish, badmanstropical and pleco planet are all reputable sites....

though I prefer www.bristlenoseworld.com

as my first stop.....

it is very important that it could be quite rare for a captive cat fish to get any where near its true recorded size in its
natural habitat as the environment and set up is some what different.

you could record you findings as some of us do, that way we will have a more accurate record to
compare with in the future.

whatever you decide I am sure you will choose wisely...

What does the + - thingy at the side of the posts do? I just pressed one as I thought I minimised the post, or marked as read, but nothing seemed to happen?

Its a voting system that is meant to indicate how helpful or meaningful a post is i think. not too sure though, never used it or even noticed it before Laughing

PostSubject: Thank you to all you Bristlenose cat fish keepers and enthusiasts :)   Peppermint question EmptyFri Nov 19, 2010 12:12 pm

well Doug that is quite funny since I voted you about 5 times in the last month alone....

lol...

I did bring up this exact problem with moderators in the suggestion box about two months ago Smile

Needless to say my point was made with the above post lol....

I always try to help people out with more than their share of votes....

JUst a shame most other people to the site do not know what the system is for.... a good idea, but as can be seen needs a little
further development, but in no way counter acts the good help and support that this site produces Smile

A little shame that not all moderators know what it is for, may be a basic help guide or FAQ to update the moderators
and new members may be needed?

good like in all your voting and Thanking from now on Smile

regards

LJ

Wolverine, when I hit that button you had 16 thank you points.. you now have 18, so everything is even.. and you got to make a point too..

Thinking about you moving house and wanting tanks have you tried 'freecycle' ? www.freecycle.org sometime fish things are on it, and you can choose an area local to you and join. :bounce:
