Problem with Lars Empty
PostSubject: Problem with Lars   Problem with Lars EmptySun Nov 21, 2010 1:12 am

Hey people. sorry to vanish for so long, I'm terrible at keeping up x.x

Anyways, problem is long, stringy whiteish or empty poops.
She's had them about a week and a half now, worried it might be bloat or something else.
She's off her food, is relatively active though, and just churns out these loooong strings of empty poop. I have another with the same problem.

I went to my local aquatics store and they recommended me Protozin, which I've been dosing since tuesday, last dose was on thurdays, next dose is today (sunday) as per instructions. It doesn't seem to have done much more than increase my plati's poop quota.

Tank has bogwood, plecs are fed Hikari Algae Wafers, with the occasional lump of courgette or a bunch of peas. Hair algae problem at the moment, running a Fluval U2 and a Fluval U1. Tankmates include Plati's, Pygmy Cories, a whiptail cat and Khuli Loaches, all of which seem fine. Water changes are 30% weekly (sometimes bi weekly) and I get into the gravel good and proper!

Any helps for my lovely Lars anyone? :3

Stringy white poo is the first sign of bloat as you mentioned. I would give her some peas asap as they can often give a fish a good clean out, if you know what i mean.

Is it possible to hold off on feeding the other fish for a day or two, just to remove any high protein foods from her diet.

Allrighty, did a waterchange, treated with the last dose of protozin, added some revitalizer tonic and rammed a handful of peas in there, as per your instructions doug Smile As for the holding off the feeding, I gave the dither fish a tiny amount, as it gets eaten before it hits the floor Smile I dont think it's high in protein anyway, it's crappy flake food hehe :P
The smaller one affected was right on the peas, so fingers crossed for him. Lars stayed in her cave, but I'm hoping she'll be out on them later...
