PostSubject: Problem with my L183 pairs   Problem with my L183 pairs EmptyWed Mar 23, 2011 9:45 am

Hello everyone,

I've recently moved my 2 pairs of L183s into a new tank. It's 4ft divided down the middle. Since i put them in, they just don't seem to be very happy. They're looking more grey than black. They seem to be eating, and certainly shift when i go in to do any maintenance. I could just be being paraniod. I used about 40% old tank water with 40% RO and 20% rainwater. Do you think it could be a lack of minerals?

Cheers in advance
Sean

have you done any water tests? with only keeping 40% of your original water maybe your new tank is re-cycling? is it a new filter? i would put in heaps of stability (or other brands) in to boost the bacteria if everything is new. and maybe put in some melafix or something to reduce stress Smile

Excellent advice, as peppermint23 has said it could be a cycle caused by the 60% water change.

Yes, checked ammonia and nitrates. Ammonia zero and nitrate around 10ppm. The filter is well cycled. This was a discus tank until i moved them out.
Cheers for you help guys.

L181/L071/L183 are notorious for settling down, and can be more grey than black for upto 3 weeks.

Not sure about L182 AS I have yet to keep them.... would hope that if you took all the necessary normal precautions that they are just feeling a little stress after the move, I have noticed they do usually prefer bigger spaces rather than cramped one's...

good luck...
