hi my question is for bushynose breeding tank should i have gravel in the bottom or can i use the bare bottom. i have driftwood and caves in there??

Hi pleco1, it depends really on what you want, if you want plants then you need a substrate so that they stay in one place, also if you have fry in the tank bare bottom or sand might be better so that you can actually see the fry,

There are a number of factors on deciding what substrate you will have, sand might not let food and other debris drop below the top grains and can be easier for cleaning, but it can be more difficult to maintain.

you could also mix gravel and sand or have bare bottom with a bit of sand in the tank.
