Hello all...

Got a picture of my 'other' ancistrus that I recently obtained. Don't think it's a common, as more dark grey than brown, also absolutely no spots, and blue eyes!

I may be wrong though, but any ideas? Also wondering if you guys think either of these is worthy of pic of the month?

Its not a panaque (unfortunately!) I checked that out. Has a few bristles on very front of its lip. Could it be a whiteseam, as the only image I can find on google is on planet catfish, but isn't clear on why the picture is amongst the writing. Will struggle for pictures from the top, but bear with me, as I really want to know what it is!

It's not a Whiteseam, you can see in Curbys profile of the L183 HERE that the name Whiteseam comes from the white edges on the dorsal and caudal fins added to that your appears to be devoid of spotting.

I have seen images of L088 that look very similar to your fish HERE, there is also an article about Whiteseams and L088 HERE

Not a pineapple, no way....Doesn't have that 'panaquesque' look to it like they do. Besides, has a row of bristles (plus 2 longer ones right at tip of nose) along its lip. I'm thinking L088....looks incredibly similar!

Here's a pic from above as promised. This is when I brought it home, so is in full stress colouration! As you can see in my 1st pic, it's nowhere near brown usually.

My guess is a Blue Eyed Panaque
or a Hypostomus faveolus "Honeycomb Pleco" L037

In the second picture you posted he looks a bit like an L156, but your first picture rules that out.
