What to breed?? Empty
PostSubject: What to breed??   What to breed?? EmptySat Apr 30, 2011 6:10 pm

I'm looking into breeding an L number plec thats fairly cheap (as this is my first L number project) and relatively simple. I have a 90 litre tank with dark gravel lots of wood and various sized breeding caves, water is pH 7-7.2. I have read a lot about clown plecos and i really like the sound of them but does anyone else have any ideas?
thanks.

pH is too high. get some more wood in there to help drop it down

Clown plecos are good. I like the L333 and the L201. They are the two which I have.

Your L numbers are much cheeper than ours so go for your life.

If your on a budget, noticed your a student, then the Clown pleco (Panaque maccus) is a great looking fish and not expensive, so you could pick adult fish up without breaking the bank.

Other options could be the Hypancistrus or Peckoltias, but adult fish can be expensive.

As Doug pointed out with most of these fish you will have to add more wood to get your pH lower for breeding.
