Hi,do I need to cover my internal filters with anything before my babies come out of the spawning cave? I have 2 fluval u2's and a large stingray filter.

depends on how powerful the filters suck it. I usually do.

I used a filter media sponge thing on my intake pipe and it blocked the water intake after a couple of weeks.

After a lot of trying different filters and types of covers I found that the babies can cope with the filters if they're not on high power. Covering meant they didn't do a proper job.
As there are so many I clean the filter every 2-3 days.
