I have a very healthy population of RC Shrimp in my Bristlenose tank. A while ago I had a big mortality rate among my first BN fry when I fed them some protein(A very small piece of salmon from my dinner plate) and now I feed exclusively vegetable diet.

The BNs thrive on this and have spawned again but I wonder are the shrimp missing the protein from their diet? They don't seem to be as they are breeding like rabbits shrimp Very Happy

Some veg do contain small amounts of protein and as your shrimps are still breeding it sounds like they are getting enough to keep them in good conditon. Algae wafers contain protein and should be acceptable to both fry and shrimps.

There has been research that indicates feeding Cherry shrimps high protein foods leads to premature shedding of their carapace and shortens their lives.

Thanks Jim. I think I'll keep going the way I am now for the moment. Might pick up some algae wafers in the future though.
