moving egg's Empty
PostSubject: moving egg's   moving egg's EmptySun Nov 06, 2011 11:28 pm

hi guys i'm looking at moving my setups around and i have a question.......

i'm setting up a grow out tank for plec fry and i want to know something,

if i don't catch them in time and the male ends up on eggs in the colony tank can i safely move the cave eggs and male, or would it be best to leave them in there,

i have a 120l with 2m 3f and they have already had one batch which are now free swimming, he has gone back on eggs again and i'm wanting to know if i set up a tank with same water if i can move them over......all will the transfer stress them all too much....

as a second question, at what sort of age would it be ok to move the free swimming fry from the colony into a grow out tank.....

all the best,

Dave

I find waiting for the time between the eggs and hatching and the fry becoming free swimming, or a bit later if you have a male who keeps them in for any length of time, is the best time to move them.

You should be able to move the fry around the 1.5 to 2 cms mark.
