Hi all,

I've managed to unexpectedly have my dwarf gourami breed. At the moment they're unhatched in the bubble nest. I understand these are very difficult fry to keep alive so it'll be really interesting to see how they do in my community tank.

Two of my three female endlers are also gravid...

Given that this is the third species of fish I've had breed with no preparation or interference maybe it's time to find some L's Wink

Congrats. Ls are alot more demanding to breed than most fish and in most cases Actuall need you to try different methods to help stimulate spawning. Good luck if you want to try tho Wink

They will not survive in a community tank, as soon as they become free swimming the parents or other fish will eat them.

The critical time for gourami fry is when they become free swimming, they need to be able to break the surface tension of the water and take in air to fill the labyrinth organ.

Take them out, together with the nest. The tank must be filled with water from the community tank.

When hatched, give them zooplanktons (cyclops nauplius, daphnia nauplii, paramecium, etc.).
After the 1st week, you could feed them with vinegar eels and fresh hatched artemia nauplius.

Good luck with them!

Unfortunately over the past 48 hours I have lost both the male and the female gourami 😢

There were no signs of disease or injury on the female. The male had a grey discolouration on the lower part of his body and was distended. He also had a red area near his mouth.

I'm still investigating possible diseases...

The male Dwarf Gourami will attack the females after spawning, did you see any signs of fighting or the male harassing the female?
