found one of my little albino BN in my main tank has red spots on his lips. i think they are battle scares from fighting with another male for a spot in the tank..... but they are too small to sex. so i dont know for sure if he is male or not.

Is there anything with any sharp edges it could have injured itself on? Substrate or decor for example.

It should heal Ok, if it looks like its getting redder then something like MELAFIX should help it heal and if there are any signs of fungus then backing that up with PIMAFIX should sort it out.

It can be caused by RO filtered water if you pour too much.

Hi,have you got a heater guard on the heater? What substrate are you using?
Can you post a pic of your tank so we can take a look?

Photobucket

the heater is a black plastic aquon pro 250 watt. it doesnt get hot enough to burn the fish. i have over 30 pleco growing out in the tank. for the last 3-4 months now. so i dont think its that.

as u can see from the pic i have nothing on the bottom. just the wood. caves a few rocks.

the stuff on the right side of the tank is string beans.

Hi,nice big tank you have.Few questions for you if that's o.k.

Jims two questions are very important.

Also the water looks a little murky,do you know why?

Do the angels bother the BN's?

As the tank looks like it is directly infront of a window do you have any temperature issues at all?

What wood is that in the tank?

Do the rocks have any sharp or very rough parts?

just checked the water.

ammonia is 0
nitrites are 0
nitrates are 5ppm

there is no sharp edges on the rocks. they are round river rocks.

the wood is drift wood i got from a LFS

the angels dont bother the plecos much at all. only when they swim past the BN the BN will swim away. but the angel didnt do anything to the BN
