Hey guys, just wondering has anyone ever kept/seen starlights in Australia, ever?

Or has anyone ever imported any?

I really want one (just because), and is wondering about my chances of finding one in Brisbane... ever.

I posted this in your WTB thread but i will throw this in here. The closest we get is the peppermint bristlenose which is very similar. There are some slight differences apparently but I have never looked hard enough to spot them.

Unfortunalty it is illegal to import bristlenose into Australia, since the late 70s Starlights (L183) 484291715

Wait, what? :O *Didn't know that*

So all the existing BNs in Australia were pre-70s and continuously bred here?

No wonder they're so god darn expensive. >_>

yep, all catfish in australia apart from native ones were imported pre 1978 or so. that is why a lot fo them are so pricy and why a lot of them are so heavily inbred.

Sucks when we look at all the cool wild caught specimans you get in the UK and States etc.

Sucks. Sad was so excited. Peps are alright, except they lose their tail color when they mature, and are huge.

Sad

On the other hand, apparently all the starlights in Australia are called 'peppermints', so... hm. Maybe I should take a chance and go out and buy any and all peps I see. >_>

yeah, the thinking goes that originally there were starlights, white seams and several other morphs like there is in the Uk b ut they were slowly just bred into the one over all species we call the peppermint. that is why no where else has the peppermint, its an Aussie thing
