PostSubject: When They Kick The Eggs Out   Mon Apr 09, 2012 6:46 am

Hi guys,

My Albino male has just kicked a small number of eggs out of the cave (only about 10 or so) Some were white and translucent and the others were a nice dark yellow colour. I collected the eggs and put them near were the water/bubbles from one of my sponge filters come to the surface in a net in order to act as a makeshift egg tumbler. It's only his first attempt too.

My questions are, is it likely that he's still on more eggs as he's chosen the only cave I can't see into (of course) to breed in but he's still not emerging from the cave and I found the eggs yesterday. I'm also wondering if he kicked them out when another female layed in there (there's 3 females in his tank). The other question is could the clear eggs be unfertilised or is it normal for eggs from different females to sometimes differ in colour (I've never noticed this in my Commons).

Thanks in advance for your replies Smile

He's likely to have booted the eggs out as some weren't fertilized. The dark yellow ones are fine but the white or translucent ones aren't. He's probably still fanning the rest of the eggs left in his cave Smile
