| I would say age,but if you do not know the age you can usualy tell by the fishes size and bristles etc. | |

| It depends on individual fish and conditions but any fish around 5-6cms in length and 8-9 months old are potential breeders. I've had males as small as 5cms breed showing very few bristles and other not start untill they were 10cms+ and with a full set of bristles. | |
