sorry to keep bothering you all but I have more questions...

I have lava rock in my tank and wonder if this is ok for a bristlenose? I bought it because it has heaps of caves, but I am concerned that it may be too rough?

Also the PH of my water is at 8. I have driftwood in the tank, and I dont want to use chemicals to lower it. Would this PH be ok for the bristlenose?

Lava rock is fine.

pH is high, you can acclimatise them to that pH but you will struggle to get them to breed and the fry will very much struggle

Go to bunnings, there is a product called peat, it is in a square plastic box and it is in pellet form about 2cm round 1 cm high. Put 4 pellets into a filter bag which you can get from you LFS, and hang it at the end of the tank near your filter.

It will slowly drop your ph down without using chemicals Very Happy

I change mine every 6 weeks Wink

No I am not breeding them, I only plan on keeping one, (probably with khuli loaches and zebra danios) but my tank is STILL (fishless) cycling.

Thanks for telling me about bunnings, I have been searching for peat at the local fish stores but they didn't have any, and I didn't want to use chemicals
