PostSubject: Do Common BN have an L No   Tue Aug 21, 2012 2:55 am

Hi I've done a search and couldn't find an answer. Do the common BN have an L no. If so is it the same for Albino,Calico, or the Common. Finally is it also same wether they are SF or LF.

no, by the time the L number system came into being the common bristlenose and all its morphs were already described as a species and did not need an L number.

from what i read the L144 was a separate species found in the wild. but they werent brought into the hobby. since then the colour morph of the common bristlenose that looks like what the L144 was described as has since taken the number but im not too sure why. I dont know much about the L144s but they are available in australia now (shortfin and longfin). If you know where to look that is

I would love to get some L144s but I've yet to come across them here in Perth.

The biggest difference just from looking at it is that the L144 has light-blue/silvery eyes with a black pupil whereas the common albino has the standard red/pink albino eyes. Other than that, by looks alone I don't think there's much more difference.
As Doug said, there are two that take this number but the colour morph of the common BN essentially gained this number though it is a "false" L144. The "true" one is apparently very hard to get and looks different to its counterpart.

There is guy who is apparently selling LF L144 at $35.00 each. Here is a copy of his add hope I can paste it paste it on here. I have removed his details and the site the add is from. Hi advertising for a friend , his bringing the fish down this Saturday
30 L144 longfins (20 sold) so 10 left 3cm -3.5cm $35each or $300 for the 10
He has 5 x L134 , 1 x 6.5cm , 2 x 6 cm , 1 x 5.5cm & 1 x 5cm he wants to sell all 5 for $650.fish are fat and healthy , was growing them out to add to his exsisting colony but bought a breeding trio so these need to go.
Can mms pics of the longfins , will have pics of the L134 later tonight or early tomorrow when he mms them to me. Would that be a fair price.

Why don't you bring them to Perth? Someone will do it and who ever does stands to make some good money from breeding them or on-selling them. If you want them badly enough, just do it.

Guess I can try :P
I have no idea what the going rate for either is so I can only assume that it might be fair.
