Hi,in my opinion they should definately be given a rest. They either starve themselves or eat very little during their time caring for eggs and fry and constantly fan them. This takes a lot out of them over a period of time. How often they need a rest is a matter of opinion and depends on a few factors but for the main part I would say that after raising 2 lots of fry (if they were one straight after the other ) that a rest would do them good, even if it is just a week or two.
