Hi mate, I'm just got my super reds to breed, they spawned about 11 days ago, but the fry are still hiding out in the cave with the male guarding them, I can see the yolk sacks are gone and I've provided food at the entrance of the cave(blanched lettuce leaf) but no one wants to come out and play.
I do back washes every two days of 15 litres, 125ltr custom breeding tank.
Also feed, cucumber, courgette and sweet potato plus cat fish pellets and spirulina, pro crisp colour, nova tabs.
Tetra pleco wafers
Hikari pleco wafers
Jbl pleco wafers
Live bloodworm
Frozen bloodworm

I've got four females plus the male in the breeding tank, I was wondering if he is not letting them out because of all the females, but read and heard of people taking the females out and leaving them in?

As you've got some success under your belt, may I tap in to your experience on this ne, I'd hate to loose what looks like 40 fry?

Hi,this is a very old thread,it is more than a year old.It would be much better to start a new one.To answer your question it is quite normal for them to still be in the cave if they spawned 11 days ago. Some don't leave the cave up till 2 weeks after the spawning. So just leave them alone and soon they will start to come out.It is quite normal so no need to worry about them.

Bristlenoses Very Happy
