| Has anyone ever kept their BNs on cholla wood alone? I want to add one of my juvenile pairs (SF green dragon male X LF calico female) to a different tank but the only wood in there is cholla wood.... They haven't bred yet. The male is 100% confirmed and he is the dominant male in the tank. I bought 3 green dragon fry and they are all male, lol. And I bought 4 (3 of which I still have and one of which I have to a friend) calicos and all are female, WTF!? Lol such as this hobby goes! So if you're wondering as to why the odd pairing. Now you know | |

| I want to get some cholla wood. I've heard bns love it, especially fry/juvies because of all the little openings as well. Unfortunately I don't think we can get it here in Australia because quarantine restrictions don't allow for foreign wood. But I would recommend getting them, I have often seen videos/pics and reviews of them in bn tanks. If you get some, let us know how it goes. | |

| I just bought some but am awaiting its arrival. The seller has pics of BN fry on cholla wood but I was unsure if it was used as a supplement or if it could be use exclusively. I love the way it looks regardless, plus you can buy it in bulk (the smaller stuff at least.)
I will post pics when I have it set up.
Anyone else have experience with this?

| Awesome. I believe any wood is good as a supplement. But a variation of wood works best as different surfaces/textures. I have a hollow piece of bought bogwood, but I salvaged some gumtree branches from my dad's place down in the country and the bns seem to love it way more than the bogwood. Hopefully someone here has had experience with the wood, as I wouldn't mind finding out more about it. | |

| The research I did suggested it was sufficient. I got mine last week. Despite instructions I found on the Internet on how to waterlog it (boiling etc), I was working a lot and decided to rinse off one and throw it in an unoccupied cycling tank. It sank within about 4 days. Not bad. Today I chunked all the rest in the tanks after rinsing them. Let those aquariums do some work for a change!! | |

| I forgot to update this! The cholla wood came and it took foreeeevvvvveeeerrrr to sink. One piece took 6 days, another 14 days, and the last one 28 days!! Holy moly! I spread it into 3 tanks containing BN and they all munch on it now and then. My ABN in my turtle tank has taken up residence in his as it's pretty roomy on the inside and the turtle can't find him in there. I'll try to remember to add pics in the next couple of days | |
