Hi all, the peppermint babies were doin good, had about 10 in the tumbler but have found maybe 4 dead when i let them out of the tumbler. The others seem okay finding cover were they can and just living life.

Does anyone know why the other may have died? They all looked the same in growth and it just confuses me?!?!?!

Remember the Elton John tune "The circle of life"- you win some you lose some,
I guess if the rest of the youngins make it through you scored a win.
All so I apologise if my advice had anything to do with the littlys demise-
I only said it would be "my plan of attack"
Still good news that your having a win mattmania.
cheers J

No way Mr J :P Their yolk sacks were almost gone any way so they had to come out round the time you told me to do it. I let them out couple of days after you made your suggestion.

Do you think that if my peppermints spawn again and the male doesn't loose the eggs the outcome of babies will be more than the outcome in a tumbler?

Kool, so you don't hate me then lol!
Have you read the link that deano put up in the bristlenose talk mattmania
"this is good info"? if there is any validity to the research and if the babies stay
with dad I'd say you'd go close to 90% mortality.

Okay i will check that out mate.... I did a round up this morning when i was at work and i've got 4 really healthy babies. Their yolk sacks are gone so i've put a piece of zucchini in there for them and also the usual algae wafers. I gotta be carefull with the small tank as don't wanna skrew up the water levels by adding too much food. I've only got a power head in there. But they are looking good.

Thanks guys i'm not giving up!! Its tough the peppermints breed once but you gotta keep doing cold water changes to get them to go again. Deano i took the breeding pot out and ran a file along the inside of it to rough it up a bit. I think this will be better because the eggs can now stick to it a little better.
