I've been told that Ancistrus is becoming a fashion in the fishkeeping world and I think we will see more mutants on the market soon with peeps cross breeding

| I actually don't mind the look of that fish ( only because I'm black spastic), but on the topic of genetics I'd have to agree these fish should be sold as what they are and advised not to do any further breeding with pure species. Of course line breeding them seems OK , it's just the same as breeding calico's and the "supposed" L144(not the species but the colour morph of A.cirrosus) J | |

Totally agree with you. I am probably going to offend people on here but all this long fin stuff just aint right, I dont even think they look attractive. People are just gonna keep cross breeding fish until the orginals vanish I for one will do as much as I can to retain true strains and not all this mutant crap you see on fleabay etc etc. Cheers thegeeman

thegeeman Narh you will not offend Gee, everyone has a right to comment and like we've said each to their own I like the true strains which on my discus side is why I keep Stendker as some of these are the closest to the original strains There are so many different Ancistrus and L numbers why the need to cross breed, it's beyond me.

As true as this is, here in australia we dont have access to all these ancistrus species. we have a MINIMAL choice. as much as i love my common and peppermint bns i just cant help but admire the beauty of my albino longfins. i just love all bns from natural to hybrids. one thing i dont agree on is people who mix the commons with the hybrids.
