Hey all,

my tank has been changed from a discus tank to an oscar tank Very Happy

I have two albino tiger oscars, Lucky and Albert. I am going to be getting a couple more (two tiger oscars) and a new tank (60 inches long x 24 inches tall x 20 inches wide, 450ltrs). Some of them will go to a mate of mine at some point when they get big.

Nice looking fish! Never seen Oscars so small, how long do they take to grow?

Must admit I do like Oscars, they are another fish with a lot of character and they soon get to recognise the hand that feeds them Very Happy .

yeah, they are quite small, they are about 2 months old at my best guess. they take about 12 months to get to around 15cms and are generally fully grown by 18 months/2 years.

It took me about 3 days to have them eating from my hands, and they know me compared to my girlfriend and my sister.

Love the oscars!

Forgive my ignorance, but I am not familiar with chichlids.
Are we talking about Astronotus ocellatus?

I became curious, and would like to look-up some info about these fishes.

Yes Mary, Oscar is a common name for Astronotus ocellatus.

You should find plenty of information about them HERE

ahhh the puppy dogs of the aquarium. great in groups of more than 2 but best as a single individual. i say better than 2 as they have been known to turn on eachother where as with having 3 or more that can be evened out. ohhhh but yes they are soooo cute when small New direction for my tank :) 1153438146
