| Well it is very possibly white spot and does look like that from what i can see. I highly recommend using Esha exit with Esha 2000.You need to vac the gravel thouroughly every other day and then any water replaced needs to be re treated. You need to do this routine for 3 weeks.I know it is a lot of work but this is how you will cure it.Turn the temp up just a little and make sure you have well oxygenated water.White spot or Ich is highly contagious to other fish also. Couple of questions if that's o.k. Is this tank a newly set up tank? What is the temp? Photographs from your camera would be good also as soon as you can do them please. Bristlenoses | |

| yeah, looks like whitespot to me. If it looks like grains of salt on the skin of the fish then it is whitespot, otherwise known as Ich. It is easily treatable but you do need to be careful with the meds as they are quite toxic. things like Wardley Ichaway work well, but there are many others. Rule of thumb is though that you need to run it half dose for twice as long cos bristlenose are scaleless fish and the copper in the medication really affects them. | |

| Esha exit or Esha 2000 don't harm bristlenoses or even fry.I have used these with fantastic results and they don't harm the bacteria either, that is why i highly recommend them along with plenty of gravel vaccing. Bristlenoses | |

| Hey yeah I managed to make it to a lfs yesterday but only just and they said it was white spot, they told me to get waterlife myaZin as it isn't as strong as others and won't harm the bristlenoses like the stronger ones, no the tank is probably about 6mths old and there has been no ammonia or nitrates they've been on 0ppm and my ph always stays around 6.8-7.0 I've been checking every other day, so if I do a water change every other day what percentage should I do, kind regards | |

| Hi,if you mean Waterlife Myxazin, this will not get rid of white spot,it will help heal the fishes skin and help prevent fungus but will not get rid of the ich.I have no idea why they told you to get that. You need something specifically for white spot and you need to follow Dougs recommendation of being careful with dosage as you can't get Esha in Australia. Part of the life cycle of the ich parasite live in the gravel or bottom of tank so it needs vaccing extremely well every other day for 3 weeks like i said previously. You need to use white spot treatment though at the same time. Then replace the water that has been removed and add enough treatment to the new water to keep the tank at the recommended dosage or half dosage. Turn the temp up a little and oxygenate the tank well. Bristlenoses | |

| I just had a recent bout with Ich that effected my clown loaches (BNs were in the tank but not eddected.) I used Terra's Lifeguard and it worked amazing! I did it at full dose, upped the heat, and upped the salt.
Please monitor your fish carefully and often as long as you are treating them. Many medications kill the beneficial bacteria which can cause poor water quality. Best of luck! | |
