| Hi Doug,it's an antibiotic by Seachem and here's what it says about it.
[color:b666=000080]
*Metronidazole is an effective and safe treatment for several protozoan and anaerobic bacterial diseases of fish (Cryptocaryon, Hexamita, Ichthyophthirus). It does not adversely affect the filter bed when used as directed and is easily removed with carbon. There is little danger of overdosing. Usual dose is 125 mg/40L (10 US gallons).
*Can be combined with Furan 2 & Kanaplex for parasitic, fungal, & bacterial infections; this duplicates the popular Aquatronics product “Paragon 2” that is no longer available.
*For in Tank Use; Use 1-2 level measures (included) to every 40 L (10 gallons). Repeat every other day until symptoms disappear. Turn off UV while using.
*To prepare medicated fish food with flake, FD, or frozen fish food using Metronidazole; Use One Measure (2-5 gallon "in tank" dose) of Metronidazole per 15 minute fish food soaking for an average 60 gallon bio load aquarium (I use "just enough" water to mix fish food and Metronidazole). After soak, pour entire contents into aquarium.

| i have used metro it did help a bit but it was peas that worked the best for me if you want to do food Effective treatment for Internal Flagellates or hexamita. Common symptoms: spitting out food, white stringy feces, fish acting nervous & facing towards back of the tank & hiding. Not eating a very common sign of flaggy. Treatment: 300 Mgs per 10 gallons of water. Heat up to 88 degrees. You may add Epsom salts 1 teaspoon per 20 gallons with addition of 25 to 50% water changes before each dose. This dose may be repeated 2x daily morning and night. Metronidazole will lose its effectiveness within 8 hours. For a stubborn case use 500 mgs per 10 gal 2x daily. These treatments should continue for 5 days. In food, if your fish are still eating you may dose 100 mgs per 1 oz of food. Mix in well. Allow 10 minutes to soak up. Feed twice daily for 5 days. Any un-used foods should be stored in the freezer not the fridge as the medication will lose its effectiveness. | |

| how much is 300 and 500 mgs in teaspoons I looked up some conversions 500 mgs on the internet and they said 500 mg = .5 grams ( 1/2 of a gram ) tell me if I'm right please.
If that is the case I weighed 1/2 gram of metro it equaled 1/2 of a teaspoon
so 1/2 teaspoon per 10 gal
please let me know if this is the right weight per 10 gal.
I use 1 teaspoon per 20 to 25 gallons of tank water for Malawi bloat in cichlids | |
