A good couple of days Empty
PostSubject: A good couple of days   A good couple of days EmptyMon May 03, 2010 8:03 pm

Its been a great couple of days. First my ABN's spawn again - same pair that went almost 4 weeks ago to the day. Came home today and my longfin pair have been at it although I think the male is a little young as he has kicked two eggs out so far and is spending a bit of time outside the log. Plus my other longfin male that just lost his partner is trapping a shortfin female in his log. I also have another male and female showing signs of courtship!
Things are finally looking up Laughing :bounce:

I thought I'd give you an update on the fish room.
Both longfins kicked a lot of eggs out (anyone know where I can get a GOOD egg tumbler?) - one was his entire batch, the other managed to to keep 4 which are now wriggling around in his cave cheers
The shortfin successfully hatched all his eggs and to my surprise is now sitting on another clutch as well as guarding all his last batch of fry affraid He's definitely going to need a break after this lot!
And finally my large male shortfin is sitting on his own batch this morning Laughing

On a side note, my L168's are looking very healthy (when I can actually find them)

A good couple of days L168

Will try and post some more pics soon

Awesome work. Great to see your having plenty of luck with it all. and i love the fish room setup!!

how do you find catching the fry in the grow out tank? I have to remove all the rocks and logs from mine to catch them, would be a bit harder in a planted tank

The planted is just the grow out for my future breeders. I have 5 longfin calicos and 3 common longfin juvies in there plus a few of my first batch of albinos. I dont intend on catching these guys for a while Smile
The main fry grow out is the bottom left tank on the big tiered rack. When that gets full, I'll use the bottom tank on the 3ft rack cheers
