it has been done but the trick is to make sure it is bone dry. an you only use the smallest dab of it. My advice would be to use fishing line of cotton though.using silicon can slow the plants growth and having to dry the wood and plant, then needing to leave it out of water for at least 24hrs means the plant may die

Hi,I only ever use elastic bands as I find them the safest and easiest.

I use cotton threads to tie my plants down.
By the time the cotton threads soften/disintergrate, the anubias' roots would have taken hold onto the wood.

I use the same method to tie down java moss.
