The Snowball Pleco (LDA33)

The Snowball Pleco (LDA33) 68x7ol

Fish Statistics
Minimum Tank Size:200 litres
Diet:Omnivore
Origin:South America
Temp (C):22-27 C
Max Size:25 cm
Family:Loricariidae
Temperament:Peaceful
pH:6.0 - 7.5
Care Level:Easy

Sometimes confused with the plethora of polka-dot black and white Loricariids. Its dentition is the most reliable character. It has four large rasping plates that cover most of its oval mouth. This is in contrast with members of the genera Hypancistrus and Leporancanthicus, who have much smaller teeth.
Provide plenty of hiding places, rounded river stones and bogwood branches will made this fish feel at home. As with most Loricariids, the more secure they feel, the more active they will be. Try floating plants to subdue the light. Bear in mind this species will grow large, and could destroy a carefully aquascaped tank.
