help with fry

i've got a pair or brown bristlenose that have bred in my green terror tank at the moment the male is still in the cave with the fry, they hatched about a week ago.
can i remove the fry now and put them in a small grow out tank ,i'm worried that if i leave them to long they will come out of the cave and be eaten by the terrors, my tank is really small so i was hoping to leave the male in the main tank and just remove the fry.

one thing you could do is move the cave, male and fry into a smaller tank or fry saver/breeding trap. then as soon as the male has done his job and the fry are free swimming you can replace the male but they will probably keep spawning now. Just try not to get him out of the water

Best thing to do is to move them all while theyu are in the cave with dad. If you dont have another tank ready to go then grab a fry saver or breeding trap as they will stop the green terrors getting to them. I scored a heap of wrigglers yesterday, they are curreently in the frysaver and doing well

i tried to put the cave into my fry saver but it's to long, tried tipping the cave upside down to get them out but they won't budge , my small tank is not cycled yet so don't want to put them in there yet, i guess i might have to wait till they come out and save as many as possible.
i will be a bit more prepared next time i didn't plan on breeding them but i quite like the idea now

unlucky, it is unfortunate that the cave does not fit, try having a look through eBay and find a breeding trap big enough to fit the cave inside,

i think you could save some, just wait and watch and as soon as you see some free swimming inside the cave watch and wait and when they leave then cave catch them as fast as you can and put them in the fry saver as to not let the green terrors eat them,

perhaps you could distract the other fish with their own food while you catch the fry?. good luck

DIY a fry saver. Grab a tupperware container that is big enough to fit the cave in. Cut the short sides out and fit some mesh or filter sponge over them. then add in a bubbler. easy..

ok thanks guys, i've managed to get the fry out into a breeding trap and they all ok , i've got a slice of courgette in there but they don't seem interested yet they are all huddled in the corner, is courgette ok to use or should i be using something else

well done with the fry courgette is fine, although they don't start eating food until they have absorbed their yolk sac under their body, as soon as that has gone, you can feed them, courgette and cucumber are both good first meals

the yolks sacs have gone now so hopefully they will start eating soon

I find they can't resist blanched spinach whatever else I put in for them. Sure hunger will get them to eat soon.

good that they are eating, i may try some spinach with my plecos, never tried it before but i find my plecos don't like things with leaves
