Female Bristlenose with swollen belly

Hi, in the past couple of days, I've noticed my female bristlenose has a swollen belly.
I've had her about 8 months. She's about 2 1/2 - 3 inches long. She's been kept with a male bristlenose the whole time (we brought them together).

In the past 3-4 weeks, Clyde (male) has been hanging around the entrance to his log 95% of the time (prior to this he hung out in his log about 75%-80% of the time)
Bonny (female)'s belly is looking slightly swollen now, not as bad as some of the pictures of bloat, but still noticeable! She's still happily swimming and eating, and is still a lot more active than Clyde.
Ammonia, Nitrate and Nitrite are all 0.

Could Bonny have bloat? Or could she be carrying eggs? Will try get a picture of her belly soon

could be either based on the info given.

I would throw in some blanched peas just to be on the safe side

Thanks. When we checked on them again last night, there were eggs in the back of the log (YAY). Bonny still has her swollen belly.

Off to the aquarium shop today to get more info (and a new filter at a guess!)

How long will Bonny be swollen for, and any special precautions for the eggs/fry?

We are in the process of moving the other fish to a different tank (we were upgrading anyway, this just sped the process up!), so it will just be Bonny & Clyde in the tank with the eggs.

In terms of what to do just let the male do his thing. its what he has evolved to do

Have a read of this. Bloat is a horrible illness but it can be beaten if its not too far along.

I'm assuming you meant to type "She died" if so I'm sorry for your loss .

What had been her diet prior to becoming bloated, was it possible it was caused by to much protein?

The diet seems fine, possibly could add more variety of veg. De-shelled peas act as a fish laxative that's why they are useful in treating bloat. I feed mine peas at least once every two weeks, not only do they love them but I feel it helps in the prevention of bloat.
