Don't like Zucchini

Subject: Don't like Zucchini Wed Aug 01, 2012 3:30 pm

Put a piece of nice fresh organic zucchini in for my male Bristlenose.
To my surprise he would not even look at it. He kicked it around a few times but not a nibble.
Has anybody else had that experience with zucchini ????
What is is a sure fire vegetable to give him ?????

yeah mine are the same, male dosent touch it, female eats it,

Did you get yours to eat any other type of vegetable or are you sticking to wafers ????

I have over a thousand BRISTLE NOSE and i have never had a single one that won`t eat ZUCCHINI. i also use ROMAIN LETTICE also about once a month . what else are you feeding them ?

Up until now I have mainly been feeding them different types of wafers as they say that they are a complete diet.

I did not know that. I have seen go for flakes that I feed the other fish but only occasionally.

yeah they love the flakes, i put sum flakes in the frys tank and they got munched up, but to be fair anything that goes into the fry tank gets munched they dont seem to be fussy, Laughing

oh ok didnt no that, this is my first time at raising fry of any fish, they are really cool, i can sit and watch them all day, they dont hide away like there mum and dad lol.

Fry only seem to have two purposes in life, eat and grow.
Be happy; if they stop eating then you know something is going wrong.

i use 3 to 4 whole zucchini when i feed all my tanks of BN each breeding group gets 1/4 of a zucchini and the fry tanks get a 1/2 or if its a small zucchini i will put a whole one the the tank sliced in half long ways. i put it in on monday morning and take it out tues nite and most of the time there is not much left to remove.

when trying to get the crew to eat something new, give them that one food only for a week straight, no flakes, no wafers, nothing but the zuchinni. they will get hungry enough & will start eating it Wink

I thought garlic would help. After-all they use it a great deal in making fish food.

Looks like garlic did the trick, as soon as it in my bristlenose jumped on it. Plus my other plecos came out.
