| Iv'e heard from 1 source that a pleco will negatively affect the bio load of a tank and from another that a pleco is part of the system and makes little impact on the bio load. Which is closer to being true? | |

| Any fish added to a tank will increase the bio load. This is simply because they eat and poop! Granted plecs poop a lot, I honestly do not believe adding one BN will effect the bio load in any significant way. Maybe you could give some more details of the tank like size, filtration type, and # any type of tankmates just to be sure.... | |

| Hi,as ktk05 said they are no different to any other fish when considering the bioload.
Bioload problems come from overstocking, overfeeding, not enough or adequate filtration, not keeping the water and tank clean, not enough oxygen in the tank, big fish in small tanks (similar to overstocking) etc etc | |

| Bristlenose are a messy fish. They will add more bioload into the system than most other fish but not a diabolical amount. Making sure you have good enough filtration and all will be well | |
