Hi Everyone,
I was lucky enough to get this pair of Peppermints !
I asked my friend who owns the lfs, to keep an eye out for a breeding pair, and he got these for me two days later.
The male is approx 17cm and the femael is approx 14cm.
I will post more pics as time goes on.

Hey guys,
I am no expert at all, but this is what has worked for me -
The biggest thing that i found helps is to keep the tank simple !!
Peppermint breedind pair or trio (male, Two females) in a tank to themselves.
Bare bottom, Gravel, or sand works fine as substrate,
Some driftwood, And 2 caves !! The ceramic breeding types work great !
Thats it. Keep the tank simple, Dont worry about plants, extra caves, extra fish etc etc.
I like to place the caves so they are close together (4-6 inches apart, Facing each other).
I have had luck with just sponge air filters with not much water flow, and other times with internal filters with high water flow ? ?
I now just use sponge filters only in all my breeding tanks, And weekly 30-40% water changes.
Keep them fed with blood worms, good quality algae wafers, greens etc.
Your male will pick his cave and then its the waiting game.

Thats all i have been doing and it has worked for me. KEEP IT SIMPLE !
I have had heaps of luck using this method with albino's, commons, orange spot.
I hope this helps, and anyone else with tips that have worked for them, please share with us.
Good Luck !!

Yup well that just about sounds like me , except for the extra cave , time to wait some more.
Also DocR34 have you heard of "Melafix" adding some of this to your tank will help a great deal with the split pectoral fins on the male pepp.
cheers J

awesome thanks for the tips. i have 2 females one male.

Bare bottom (no gravel or sand)
1 power head for a filter and 2 caves and a piece of drift wood (its totally hollow).

The male lives in the driftwood with one of the females, the other female is in the other cave. I'm keeping them really fat on veggi wafers and hickory wafers. Sometimes i'll throw some zucchini in there for them too. I'm not so much trying to get them to breed any more, just giving them a wicked home and if it happens it happens. THANKS FOR THE TIPS MATE!!

Thanks, yeah im using melafix at the moment. I only just got this pair,
and the male got some fins damaged when the breeder netted him.
That's what i was told ??
I'll fix him up with some melafix.
I'll post some more pics when his fins recover.
Cheers..Smile
