Hi im new here, just bought 2 females bristlenose from the Pet store, few days ago, i have a Veil Tail Betta who does not seem to mind the company of the BN, since my water change an intro to a small driftwood..this morning my BN are constantly gulping for air, than return to the bottom graze or once i see that they burp the bubbles out they than return to the surface constantly, my betta appears to be in good health acting normal crazily swimming around but worried about the BN just concerned why they do that i have read that they do it due to there buoyancy, but my BN do it every few minutes. Ph Neutral, temp 26-28range, is this a common this or i should be worried about this occurances.

That is strange,

my BN never go up for air what is your nitrites?

and how often do you do water changes i would do a 50% water change straight away, what filteration do you have in the tank and do you have an air pump?????

Agree do a 50% water change then change 25% daily for a week and see what happens
I use seachem stability in case of emergencies in case of a filter crash, not happended for ages but did happen once and this was a god send to me.
I also use it sometimes to mature new tanks quickly.
Do you have a tester kit? would be useful to see your
Ammonia, Nitrite and Nitrate levels

Thanks for the tips, woke up this morning an the females were back to normal, not going up for air, grazing i did 50% water change, i dont know wat type my filter is all i know it has a black sponge, sucking up the water, inside has the carbon pellets than spits it back at the top where i can adjust the current., i dont have a air pump, but i have purchase aqua one pump, an should be getting some air stones, only have a pH kit, Ammonia, Nitrate kit im going to get one also Seachem Ammonia Alert Indicator

What i think could have happened is that i change all the water tank an even though my ph neutral an put the H20 conditioner, + stress zyme, stress coat, i think the BN still got a shock of some sort, but now im cautious. thanks guys im glad i found this site very useful.

Glad there back to normal

you should never change all the water and only ever clean your filter with tank water other wise you will kill all the Bacteria on the sponges let you tank settle for a couple of days then do a 10% water change

can you get a picture of your filter?
