Hey,
I have just noticed that the larger of my L059's (at about 1.5 inch) has 2 tiny bristles at the end of his nose... Thought I saw some round the sides too but cant be sure. I wanted to try and get a pic but he scarpered when I got my phone out lol!
Is it likely that he is a 'he' because they are coming when he is little???

nope, it is an indication but no more unfortuantly.

I would say there is a 70-80% chance that its a male because of the early development but you can never be 100% percent as the females have a nasty habit of tricking us fishkeepers with their bristles.

fingers crossed for ya though!

I have been looking closely at all my L059 and out of the 4, 3 have got bristles coming even though they are still very small (barely 1.5" if even that big)
Here is a pic
