Barney Brown

Heres my fella, he's called Barney, he,s a patterdale terrier and the kids call him Barney Brown because of his brown eyes, nose and lips.

He's older now (5) and is the best dog I've ever owned, I've had staffies in the past but Barney is so different, he comes from working parents ( both pest control or rat catchers!) and is a very loyal, loving member of the family.

Waht do you think, cute or what!

Different I'll say that much and cute could probably find it's way in there somewhere.
In the last foto that's obviously a newer pic , is he five years old in that one?
Definatly different I'd never even heard of a patterdale terrier let alone seen one- good doggy.

In the bottom picture he's about 11 months, I'll try a get a more recent photo to show you how he is now. Patterdales are also known as fell terriers and are not pedigree dogs, they are primarily working dogs used extensively on farms to control the rat population, Barneys mum worked along side his dad when at work, he would chase the rats into the open and mum would kill them.This may appear inhumane but rats are a massive problem on poultry farms and can even bother larger livestock. Patterdales were originally bred by local farmers on the scottish borders and became very popular as working dogs, in the same vein as border terriers, jack russell's and other small terriers.They have a very large following in America were they are used to control possum, try having a look at them on the net.
