| Just a quick question, I tried my bristle nose on some blanched zucchini which they took too quite well  , Yet within a couple of hours the zuch had grown a semi-transparent coat of what looks like slime/mould, is this a bad thing and will it be harmful to my fish? Cheers | |

| hrmmm, this could be one of several things. Zuchinni that is a bit old and soft will decompose in the warm water really quickly and this can sometimes lead to a slimy coating on the exposed surface. The other thing it could be is some sort of growth. If i leave peas in my tanks too long (more than 24hrs) they turn into balls surrounded by slimely stuff and the bristlenose wont touch them.
Personally, i would remove it as the bristlenose wont eat it if they dont reconise it as food. that slime will also be a breeding ground for bad bacteria and fungus.
Try some cucumber and see if it happens with that. | |

| So I have tried the cucumber as suggested and it didn't last long enough for the slime/mould to form  Its been a long time since I have seen fish take to anything that quickly! looks like it will be a permanent addition to their diet from now on Thanks again | |
