Super red pleco questions?

to me this doesn't really pass as "red"

what is the difference between german and czeck strain?

lastly what color are the fry suppose to look like?
the ones i have seen looks like the second link above, light orange or orange brown, but they never turn "red" even as adults, they stay orange brown.

Hi,you can't really go on what they look like on the photographs as they don't really give a true colour perspective in most cases.In my opinion the ones in the second picture look good quality.I have never seen a super red that is actualy red,they are more orange than red.The only thing i don't like to see are black markings on them which a lot have.Selective breeding will help a lot and you will probably pay a lot of money for fish that have been selectively bred over time to produce certain traits.It is just a matter of finding them or taking on the task for yourself,starting with the best you can find.

I know the breeder for the aquabid link (the first link), he was one of the frist guy to own Super reds in the USA. he brought babies from a guy in germany for $500 shipping not included.

and his super reds were SUPER RED, not like what is circulating now, ,but he sold them all on aquabid and started breeding Zebras.

I know that they SHOULD be THAT red, but i haven't seen any around lately except on UK auction sites

You might want to check out AngelsPlus. They have quality fish, I have a group of Red BN from them, the color is somewhere between your two examples. They don't deal in over hyping, they call their fish "Red", not "Super Red". I think they have young pairs available right now for about $50.

no problem! I've had nothing but good experiences w/them (I breed Angels). You may want to check out their food section as well, IMO their algae wafers and "super spirolina flake" can't be beat- in quality & price....
