I can catch a lot of live mosquito larvae, but they are so quick and live on surface, or just beyond surface and ancistrus are usually on bottom so i don't know if they can catch them? I didn't try.

nope, not their diet. they are herbivores that occasionally find a meaty treat in the form of a dead animal. they are very rarely active hunters. though stories do exist, they are few and far between.

My little Annie eats bloodworm when i feed it to my other fish. she does seem to after it when it lands on the bottom.
