Right just a pre-warning to anybody starting out or currently setup....
I changed my tank bottom from having gravel to having a clear bottom in my grow out tank...
The reason for this was to keep maintenance down with crap......
I left 2 small filters in there with a small Piece of Bogwood....
I had around 80 small bn's between 1-3 cm's..........
I checked the nitrite's on a regular basis but here comes the dumb part and somtimes take it for granted.....
I was getting 1 or 2 small bn's dying every day??
I checked the Nitrites and they were perfect, i checked the PH today and wham 4.5.........
Due to removing everything but bogwood the PH dropped fast and badly.........
Lets just say its took me about 3 hours today to fix the problem and all is healthy now.....
but be warned if you want a clear bottom make sure you put furniture in there that will increase your PH such as Coral Rock e.t.c....
So you see even I can be a daft git now and again.......
Check your PH every time you check your Nitrite's...............
