PostSubject: Re: Gone fishin   Gone fishin EmptySun Mar 21, 2010 10:32 pm

High guys , had a ripper of a couple days - I went with 6 other mates 4 of which spent most of the time providing burly
and team VB ( Me, Ads(my brother)and Polly ) provided most of the catch with the exception of Sean( the hardcore fisho)
who can still spew and retrieve line at the same time.
It was pretty high seas with swells over 5 meters and a couple of the guys had their first time on a boat(real bad timing on their behalf)
List of fish:
1x blue snapper aka blue morwong
1x forget the name - looks like a sweep with black and white vertical stripes( my oddity catch for the day)
20x good keeper Nanygai ( my last fish for the day was the biggest and just got beaten as biggest fish by the blue morwong)
16x good keeper Snapper
18x Swallow tail Nanygai ( the best tasting fish out of the catch)
2x Leather jackets
+ a few coral trout and what ever was thrown back being undersized( which is a bugger - being in 100 meters of water when you pull the fish up their swim bladder bursts so your only throwing back dead fish anyway)

I'll post up some pix when I get the flash drive off of Nicko.
cheers J

Yibba da Yibba da folks-
Oh we have plenty of european carp over here ( labelled as noxious pests) which get easily as big as some of the ones
I've seen on pommy vids, you actually get fined over here if your caught throwing them back in the water ways.
Law states: they must be dragged 20ish feet up the bank and banged on the head.
Monster catfish: oh yeah a trip to S.America would be awesome and imagine some of the wild caught monster plecs
you'd come across.

Well we didn't get as many foto's of the fish as I hoped( more so just us screwing around Laughing )
but this is what a "Nannygai" looks like, they usually top out @ 60cm and my biggest was 51cm
Gone fishin Images
Brother Moley's (Nicko) blue morwong-- as you can see not that much bigger than half a meter
Gone fishin P1020914
All the boys on the back of the boat except for steve who was snoring his head off( and the hand jestures are not aimed at you guys Laughing )
Gone fishin P1020912
And this 1 I caught when the lads were not looking.

This little critter is one of the main culprits is why our OZ import restrictions are so rough( all though originally introduced
by one of our earlier governments- so the gov screwed it up for everyone ages ago),
Originally out of the 10-12 species you could regularly catch out of the Murray river- you can catch 1 species now 9.5 times out of 10 --guess which one.
These little horrors devastate young fish populations , eat just about every variaty of fish egg and mull over the bottom of the river for food decimating the environment , therefore never letting the breeding cycle of native fish even begin.
As you could guess I'm not a huge fan of the European Carp Laughing
