L 046...??

Well i cant wait any longer to get a debate going on these very rare plecs...who own's any or have owned...does anybody spawn them....
and what we really want is anybody who has some great pics of these beuty's.... :roll:

problem is now john is that they have now banned importing and from what here were they come from is gona be built over..
so the price is gonna get bigger and BIGGER..as they will become rare as!!!

I know mate they have been banned for about 5 years, they have been banned from importing them like all Hyphans.... but i think this is silly due to the fact there building dams where the L46 live and this will probably wipe them out anyway

they will come down in price because loads of people are spawning these now i know a few people that have spawned them

I have 5 zebras. Four adults and one little one. They haven't spawned for me yet.

Awesome pics Brengun I've seen Zebras go on Ebay for nearly £200 at only 2 inch but also read and heard they are quite hard to breed and difficult to sex too!

Here in Australia juvi zebs go for $700 and adults $2 or $3k. Yeah, thats each.

The littlest, took it 6mths to grow from 2.5cm to 3.5cm and I am really really hoping it turns out to be a girl.

i got my little guys about 2 weeks ago.

this is my fav pleco ever! such a shame that you cant get them in australia. . unless someone knows someone here with any?

I only know of one person with any females in NZ and they don't know how to breed them and aren't willing to take advice from those who could get them breeding so within a few years I expect they will be all gone from our shores. That sucks. If anyone had a female, they could basically ask whatever they wanted for it and it would sell within hours.

a guy at my local fish shop told me that he knows somewhere that he can get me 2cm fry from. however theres a catch. the guy wants 700 dollars each for them and they are just juvies so it wouldnt even be possible to sex them at this size... anyone reckon it would be worth it?

Difficult to say for people from other countries. If we could get some fry I know so many people in NZ who would buy them and grow them out. If you can sell adults for so much more in Oz, why not get one or two and when they are mature if they are not the sex you want, sell them on at a huge markup. I know a lot of hypans are fetching pretty high prices over the ditch at present where we can buy some locally bred ones here for quite reasonable prices. Its all supply and demand...

And to think we can pick them up for as little as £75....unlucky guy's..

Well the kind of good news is the import lists are being revised and almost completed and these are going to be allowed back into NZ so I know a guy who will most likely pick up a couple of females and breed a bunch. Then I'm pretty sure he will sell me some at a reasonable price!

I reckon give it a few years and quite a few fish will be back on the export lists but what the heck do I know

I have 9 all different sizes one big female I think 2.5in , four 2in and four small 1.5in juvies , I predict a very long wait had them a year nearly one is very fat I was hoping with eggs inside but a bit too early maybe , I think the top 2 pictures emphasise how round the belly is maybe I'm overfeeding them a bit What do you think ?
