| High simosprp, I'm usually not to concerned about size - more so age, mine usually go to the shops @ 6-8 months old- you would figure if the fish has survived for this time it should be healthy enough to move on. J | |

| A good inch is fine...although 4CM's is the big winner....more chance of survival.... | |

| wow wait till they are 4+cm or 8 months ......
ohhhh might mean I have pleco explosion on a global scale......
my mating pair seem to be dropping between 30-70 fry every three to four weeks so I might have to separate them at this rate until my fry are big enough to sell...
what do you guys think.......
my first group are about 8 weeks this week and my second are about 3-4 weeks right now, approx 100 fry in a 26 gallon tank..

| I sell mine generally at 3.3cms+ this is because that is what the local fish shops want. I 99% of the time dont sell smaller than that, and if i do it is becasue i know exactly where they are going and know that there is no issues with larger fish etc. I have lost a few sales beacuse of this but I like to know my babies are safe. Going by age or size really makes little difference in the end as long as the runts are big enough when the age is up. I don't seperate out my spawns, once they are 2cms they go from the breeding tub into the growout tank and when i get a call or i have enough i start ringing around the locals. I find that when i have them in the growout tank it takes them 3-4 months to get to sellable size, if i leave them in the smaller tanks, it take 6-7 months. when i first started i waited til they were 4cms but now i can spot the ones that need a bit more time in the growout tank and only take the stronger, more developed ones. once you get your eye in its easy to spot | |

| that was useful advice currently my pleco's breed and stay in the biggest tank, now I am thinking of moving the breeding pair into a 26 gallon at a later stage and then from that to a 40gallon for growing out.
Now I am thinking I need two tanks instead of the one I currently wanted lol.....
I have three established tanks but dont really want to change them in any way right now...
