| Hi everyone,
I've just finished my last round of exams at uni where I studied marine biology and now I thought I'd look for a new forum since plecofanatics went down. I worked at St.George Aquariums in Sydney for a while and I've been working at Sydney Aquarium for a while now. I've been breeding bristlenose catfish just as a little hobby, never had too much time for it while I was at uni but I might get more serious now that I'm graduating. I've been successfully breeding my common bns for about a year now and my peppermint bns which I bought as sub-adults (to save money) have bred for the first time about 6 weeks ago and the female looks likes shes ready for round 2.

| Hey and welcome to the forum! Good to have another biologist on here! where did you study? I have a few llinks to people round there. Good luck with the Peps too. If you ever find youself with an excess female let me know. I have two males, both caved up and waiting for a mate but alas there is none | |

| Yeah I studied at UOW, just finished my final exams and maybe going to do my honours starting in August if I get accepted. I was lucky with my peps they were both sold to me as 'sub-adults' and I got both for $60 each from different breeders, The male was definately a male but I wasn't 100% about the female cause she has quite a lot of bristles until she blew up like a balloon and a few weeks later I had my first batch of fry haha. I only have the pair cause they were so cheaper relatively as I am obviously a broke uni student, I will enjoy actually earning some money now, moving out and having more room to breed some more fish, that is if I dont get into honours. | |

| Do honours mate, sriously. Increases you earning potential and you are 4 times more likely to get a job in the 4 months following your degree. Especially in marine biology, thats a hard to crack field! Sure its another year of being a poor uni student but its worth it in the long run. Good work with the peps too, that should sort out a bit of extra income for you while you do your honours. There, sorted, you will do honours and sydney will have peps. easy sorry, but i'm well into academic life | |
