| i asked the same question on another site. What I ended up doing is put an algae wafer in the tank and wait. once there are a few on it scoop them up. then put the wafer in again and do it all again. Worked for me. I use one of the coarser nets so the sand drops through | |

| depends on how your tank is setup and how large the fry are. When they are small (less than 2cms) i use a 19mm pipe and syphone them out into a net. Once the get bigger than that it become too rough on them and they get clever enough to suck onto the inside of the hose...cheeky cheeky!
I have my grow out tank such that i can quicky remove all the internal stuff and then chase them with a net. If they are in a tank with plants or immovalbe objects then i like the twin net approach, smash one into the gravel then use the others to chase them into it.
Or if you have a bit more time, the old lobster pot trap works well.
what ever way you go...you may find that you end up saying some rather colourful words and its not wise to have children around at this time as these words as well as projectile fish nets and other tank equipment can cause major injuries. | |

| When I transfer mine over to my other tank, the babies are still relatively small i just leave a little medicine cup next to the tank and when i see them on the glass just put the cup over it and slide the cup up to the top. I have used an open jam jar with cucumber in it as well. | |

| If heavyly planted first remove enought plants to get the net in. Than drop a wafer or vegetable of choice wait ten- 20 secs start scooping out the right sized fish. I only do this for half an hour so not to stress the fish out. I useally get between 20-40 fish in this time if after adults this is harder. Males can be grabed in cave if you go down slow and place fingers over entrance and pull up and place into bag or other tank. Females will need to be catch with a larger net with more patience if that doesn't work remove all driftwood as most of the females will be around or in the wood. If all else fails remove as many things as possible and play chasey around the tank. | |
