| Those piston ones are good I have one of the 50l/min ones and it cost me $50 from a shop. Had it for about a year and had no complaints. Mine runs 6 sponge filters at a really good rate. they are a bit noisy though, best for a fish room not a living room tank. | |

| I agree with Doug, it looks like it might be a bit noisy for a living area.
I have a big sponge filter running off of regular Aqua AP2 http://www.seapets.co.uk/products/aquarium-supplies/fish-tank-equipment/aquarium-air-pumps/air-volution-and-aqua-air-pumps/aqua-air-ap2-pump-interpet.html
It's a good powerful tool for my 30 gallon (i use to run an air feature off it too with no problem) the highlight of it (to me) is that it has very soft rubber feet so is completely silent. The only sound is the bubles breaking the surface water in the tank..
I also have a fluval u3 filter that has a venturi setting depending on what the purpose would be. | |
