| How big would you expect an L071 Peppermint Bristlenose to grow given perfect conditions etc?
I do not have one.

| I do keep them and they breed any where between 5-7inches depending on the male and female, the set up also influences the breeding time.
Not had time to read curby's article, though he is pretty much spot on usually :P

| Best kept alone (in same species) or would they mingle with other bristles? | |

| I have a small group of youngsters (5cms) in with some commons of a similar size and there are no problems at the moment.
There are reports of them being more aggressive than other BN's but maybe some one with adult fish can answer that.
Mine are more nocturnal than the commons, usually only appearing at early evening, but they are not as shy as I thought they might be and are often grazing at the front of the tank.

| Sound advice and just about spot on JIm
Mine are kept in a 26gallon tank with a few guppy, two mollies, two bumblee cat fish, a butterfly fish, and a breeding pair of ancistrus
My LO71.....peppermints are slightly nocturnal too.... they are mostly found underneath the bogwood... though at other times on the filter bottom, front or back of the tank glass....
only ever seen them aggressive once and that was when another bumblebee catfish was getting a little too close to the peppermint pleco cave entrance.....

| They do get a bit bigger that most people think. every time people see my peps or organgespots they are stunned at the size of them.
I would say that a big male could get to 18-20cms if treated properly. And they are slightly more agressive and def more shy that the common bristlenose

| Thanks everyone, someone locally was advertising one and I was unsure, I've decided against it.
I think I'm going to get one more female common bristlenose as I already have a common Male and female bristlenose, not sure whether o go for albino or regular..

| I got a regular common bristlenose in the end, it's a small 5cms (Keeping fingers firmly crossed that it is a female) I already have one male and female (mature) already the introduction if this fella seems to have them two thinking... (I hope)
Was interested at the LFS to see a 'green strain' BN? Does anyone know these? It was slightly more expensive at £9.95 but just looked like a regular.. but green?
