| Hi all, Just wanted to get some expert opinions can anyone help me determine whether this is a male or female peppermint bristlenose? I have 4 in total in a 3 foot tank. two big boys (10cm) and one has claimed a cave. the other two are a little smaller and not sure if they are just juvie males or girls growing slowly. this one is about 18 months old. trying to condition with vegies, algae discs, new life spectrum and bloodworms to see if he/she will grow...the big boys only seem to be getting bigger and bigger. Any help would be much appreciated! i know pics aren't the best but he/she's a shy one! | |

| cool thanks guys! this morning i saw one of my bigger ones out and quickly snapped a shot from my mobile phone as it looks like a girl. up until now i thought it was a boy as it has a few bristles and kept far away as possible from my big male who has claimed a cave (he is a bit feisty around his cave). but you can sort of see in the pic that it has a big belly and it is pinkish/redish in colour. sorry phone camera isn't the best. so what do you think? male or female? | |

| body shape is most likely a female. Peppermints are slightly different to commons as the females have bristles more commonly, but never running up their nose, just on the top lip. | |
