| My 5 pepps are starting to put on some weight finaly. They Are very aggressive at feeding time and push my long fins Away from the food even though food is separated at each end Of tank and in the middle out of direct sight of each other. I've tried putting food behind the drift wood but the pepps Always muscle their way in and chase the long fins away. Should I get rid of the long fins and just keep the pepps By themselves? | |

remember that peps get bigger, stronger and are more agressive than commons so if it does come down to a fight the commons will loose

| How big is the tank?
and how many of each species and sex are there?
if the only agression you see is during feeding time then i would try and split the food up a bit more. I know you said you put some in different places etc but try giving them the same amount of cucumber but in thinner disks and spread them around. see if that makes a difference. | |

| I have 4 male and 4 female peppermint cat fish, plus a breeding pair of bristlenose in a 28gallon fluval tank. Non have shown any signs of aggressive behaviour as yet, I know they might but they have plenty of spaces to hide and a decent size of bogwood, plus pebble's, shell's and flora etc...... I must be one of the lucky ones I guess. I know the tank is fully stocked and I do a water change every three days at the minimum, I also have to internal filter canisters running always. When I move hime I will separate the peppermint cat fish in to breeding group's, though right now I am struggling for space as down sized takns ready for the move. good luck | |

| In a 3 foot tank i would give 2 trios a shot, or maybe 2 males and 3 females would be a better ratio. just givethem plenty of places to hide and you will be swarmed with cute little peps in no time | |
